Meet Ellie (she/her): Our Therapy Dog In-Training
About
We are SO excited to introduce Ellie, a loving, energetic, and friendly Corgi who is currently in training to become a certified therapy dog. Ellie is learning how to be a comforting presence during therapy sessions, and we are looking forward to welcome her into our work at Found Counseling to offer animal-assisted therapy. Our hope is that her support will be a meaningful addition to the care we provide, and help to help deepen the therapeutic experience for our clients.
Training
Ellie is currently being trained through Granto Pet Services, where she’s learning to navigate a variety of social and therapeutic environments. While she's not quite finished with her training, she’s making wonderful progress and already brings a lot of warmth and curiosity to our space. As Ellie continues her work toward becoming a fully trained therapy dog, we plan to begin introducing her into sessions upon request. If this is something you or your child might find helpful, please let us know. Having her present in session is entirely optional and only done if it feels supportive and comfortable for you.
Outside of Work
Ellie loves playing with her doggy siblings, going to the dog park, playing tug with her favorite toys, and going for long runs. True to her herding instincts, she’ll happily try to round-up any animal that gives her the chance! Often on walks, her friendly demeanor and joyful energy is quick to win hearts (we may be a bit biased).
