Starting therapy can come with lots of questions, about logistics, fees, what to expect, and whether it’s the right fit. This FAQ aims to offer clarity and support. Yes, most of our sessions, especially for children and teens are offered in person. Depending on the person and their needs, in-person work can create a deeper sense of safety and connection, especially for younger clients who benefit from play-based or expressive therapy and co-regulation. For adults and teens who prefer it, virtual therapy is also available. We’ll work with you to find the format that feels most supportive and accessible.

We are an out-of-network provider, so we don’t bill insurance companies directly. However, we’re willing to provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. If you’d like to check your benefits, here are a few possible questions to ask your insurance provider:
Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed?
Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
Do I need a diagnosis or pre-authorization?
Your insurance will want to see the following CPT codes to tell you the reimbursement:
90791 - 60 min Diagnostic Evaluation
90832 - 30 min Individual Psychotherapy
90834 - 45/50 min Individual Psychotherapy

We believe therapy should be financially accessible without compromising the quality of care. That’s why we offer a sliding scale alongside our full fee, with flexible options based on what feels sustainable for you. There’s no paperwork or proof of income required, just an open conversation. You’re welcome to bring up cost at any point, whether you’re exploring services or already meeting with your therapist.
Here’s how our rates are structured:
Set Rate ($225–$250) – for those with steady financial resources
Sustainable Rate ($125–$175) – for those who can contribute meaningfully, but not at the full rate
Accessible Rate ($40–$85) – for those facing financial hardship or systemic barriers
We also offer a Pay What You Can option on a short-term, case-by-case basis. Each provider holds space for 10 sliding scale clients at a time. If all spots are full, we’re happy to add you to a waitlist.
If you're unsure where you fit, we're always open to talking it through. You're not expected to justify your circumstances, we trust you to know what’s manageable.

We require at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice may be charged the full session fee, unless it’s an emergency or illness.
We know that unpredictable things happen, and we’ll always approach these situations with care and understanding. If something unexpected happens, just reach out. We’re happy to talk through it.

The first session is about connection and grounding. We’ll explore what brings you or your child to therapy, talk through hopes and concerns, and begin to set a foundation for our work together. If it's a child or teen session, we may divide the time between caregiver and client, depending on what’s most supportive. There is no pressure to share everything at once, you can move at your own pace.

Most clients begin with weekly sessions. That consistency helps build safety, connection, and momentum, especially early on. Over time, the frequency can shift based on your needs, goals, and capacity. We’ll always decide that together.

It’s completely okay to feel unsure, starting therapy is a big step, and we’re here to make it feel as safe and supportive as possible. You can begin by reaching out through our contact form, email, or by scheduling a free 15-minute consultation. Let us know what you are looking for see if we feel like a good fit for you. From there, we can schedule an intake session.

Therapy is different for everyone. Some people come for a few months to work through something specific, while others find ongoing support helpful over time. We generally recommend a minimum commitment of 3 to 5 months to give the process space to unfold and build trust. We’ll check in regularly about how things are feeling and whether adjustments are needed.

Here, to be affirmed means that you don’t have to explain who you are in order to be supported. We don’t pathologize difference, we welcome it. Affirming care meets you with respect, curiosity, and celebration, not assumptions.
Trauma-informed care means we understand how experiences can shape the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self.
These approaches help build a relationship where you or your child can feel supported without fear of judgment, invalidation, or being misunderstood.

They don’t matter for everyone, but to some, they really do.
Finding a therapist who shares or deeply understands aspects of your identity could make it easier to build trust.
If you’ve experienced marginalization you may want a therapist who can understand some of the impact systems have without needing you to educate them.
While no therapist can fully know your exact lived-experience, we believe in cultural humility and transparency.
We’re always open to conversations about identity and power in the therapy relationship. That includes holding space for how our similarities and differences might show up and how we can work together in a way that feels safe and respectful.

The answer will look different for each person. That said, here are a few common signs of progress:
You feel safer naming emotions or asking for help
There’s more ease in navigating day-to-day stress or transitions
Conflict feels less overwhelming, and there’s more clarity around boundaries
You notice subtle shifts in confidence, communication, or energy
Relationships begin to feel more authentic and connected
You are using tools from therapy between sessions, even in small ways
Therapy isn’t always linear. Growth often includes a mix of progress and regression, and that’s okay. We’ll check in regularly about what’s working, what’s not, and how to adjust the process together.
